What keeps the spare tire on a 34 1/2 ton from swinging in toward the lower door hinge. I see on 35 pickups there is a bracket below the tire well that would hold the tire up and away from the hinge. With the rod and tire clamp at an angle and the weight of the tire it wants to swing in. Thanks.

The 1934 to 1936 1/2 ton side mounting hardware is all the same. The tire should fit down fully into the well (there is a 1/4 inch thick pad strips in the bottom of the well). Between the tire in the well and clamp on top tightened down the tire shouldn't swing anywhere. The two straps (metal) that are riveted to the well are for an accessory tire lock. The 1.5 ton welled fender has a very shallow well because the mounting bracket keeps the tire high above the fender (you do have the deeper 1/2 ton welled fender I hope.)

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

I have what came with the truck. I have 2 fabric strips from the Filling station. There is two pair of holes, two top & 2 bottom in the well that must be where they go. I'll put them in and see if that stops the tire from turning in the well. I made a new rod and tire clamp from your drawings, every thing seems to fit ok. How far is your tire out from the lower door hinge? Thanks

I'll have to measure that for you; might take a bit my wife's son is getting married here at our house on Saturday so things are a bit of a mess right now. I might have a Chevy blue print I'll see if I can dig it out. I did sneak out in the barn and did a quick measurement the center line of the tire in the well is 3 & 1/2 inches from the outside edge of the door lower hinge. I mesured to the center line because I don't know what all the different tire sizes are they vary.
