Hallo,
I´m going to tune up my 31 engine with new ignition parts and I would be very glad about some experiences in fuel consumption. What is "normal" for a sport coupe when everyting works well ?
Thanks for answers
Regards from germany

Hi,

Each answer you get will in all probability vary. I would suggest you would get about 17-19 in a good car and normal driving.

If my math (below) is correct, it would appear that you are getting approxomately 19 miles per (U.S.) gallon of gas. I think that's pretty good for a 1930 Chevrolet.

3.8 litres = 1 US gallon

8 kilometres = approximately 5 U.S. miles

3.8 x 5 = 19 mpg

I would answer Juergen in german, because this is our native language, but I answer in english for everybody.
My 1931 Chevy did "drink" about 22Liter per 100kilometer, when I got it. Now, after working on carburator and ignition, it is at 15 ltr/100km, but I am sure it is possible to get it a bit more down. Here in germany the gas is awful expensive now, and even the old cars should not consume more than necessary.
let me calculate....one gallon is about 7,70 USD here in germany...not really funny...
