I just found some rubber material to use as mats for my running boards and would like to know what type of glue to use to secure the mats. I remember reading on this site that it is best to glue them to bare steel, but I don't remember what glue was used.
Thanks.

Where did you find the material? Mine need not be exact but would be nice to be close or at least quite wearable.

The best glue to use is a commercial contact adhesive that is used on vinyl tops. You can purchase the glue from a shop that installs vinyl top material.

wink :)

Thanks Dog, I'll talk to my upholstery guy about the glue.
Re: jerrygolf's question, I got the material for the mats at my local hardware store. It was cut from a large roll of ribbed rubber that is used for making mats in commercial buildings and also used as a mat for walkways, etc. It is not exactly like the original molded mats, but at this point, it will have to do, since there is not a source for the original. A friend in Arkansas with a '32 sedan also found this product at his local building supply store. I don't think Lowes or Home Depot have it, but maybe they could order it.

There is a guy in Alberta Canada that does running boards. Can't think of it right now but I can find it for you if you want.
