There is a problem with mounts as the original 53 had center mounts and the later models have a different mounting system. There also may be a clearance problem with the water pump shaft easily remedied with a after market pump or cutting the shaft on the old one. Over in chevy talk.com there is a lot of discussion about this change over. This group is more in line with restoration to original so there is a difference in information available.
