Most likely the engine number stamped on the raised boss behind the distributor. If the engine's been changed & the numbers don't match the title you'll have to contact your state DMV for their method of resolving the issue.

There should be a Model Identification tag screwed with small clutch head screws to the right side of the cowl inside the engine compartment. The tag is 1& 3/4" x 3& 1/2" Most of lettering is painted on the tag and the ID number/letters are stamped in the bottom row. If the tag is missing try the Filling Station for a reproduction plate. If your title for your truck used the ID and not the engine number you can then re-stamp the plate.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

Thanks for the info!
Do you say the tag goes on the cowl, under the hood side or is it on the firewall?

Under the hood on right side (passenger) towards the bottom look for two small holes where it was mounted. A lot of ID plates were drilled through when a heater was installed.
