Hi Folks,
I'm wanting to buy wheel dollys for my '51' so I can scoot it around in the garage.
Has anyone out there had good results with the dollys they have purchased?
I would be interested as to where they were purchased, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Hi Bob, I have had a set of 4 aluminum car dollys for many years that work great, they are half the cost of the harbor freight type with the built in jack. I do need to use a floor jack to lift the car, but in less than 15 minutes I can jack up my car set onp skates (as my friends call them and spin my car 90 degrees all by myself( from the rear end). They allow me to fit 3 cars in my extra deep 2 car garage. The company I bought them from now sells through distributors, check out their web site at www.car-dolly.com. California Car Cover Co ( www.calcarcover.com ) has them as well as a nicer unit similar to the ones Jim referred to from Harbor fraight (I have bought tools from harbor freight, and find most of their equipment is imported & usually less quality than similar items made here in the states).

I have 2 sets--got one from Harbor Freight and the other from Homier. Can usually find them at the larger swap meets. Work great for me as I have a 3-4 car garage and only one garage door. allows me to move them around freely to get other cars and stuff in the garage.

Ken,
Thanks for the reply. I, like you, have the same situation in the garage ...1 door with lots of room inside.
I found dollys at a company called Merrick Machine. Merrick sells their dollys through many different outlets, the least expensive being J C Whitney. Prices varied from 129. to 200. + for the same dollys PLUS SHIPPING. Whitnet has free shipping plus the lowest price.

I saw some for sale at some of the larger shows last year, Good Guys and the Forg Follies for $69.00 for a set of 4. Homier had them that cheap also, but freight was a little high. they do have tool sales across the country sometimes. Good luck.
