Any advice on new stainless bumpers. Are they equal or better than chromed spring steel?

My first real post, the S.S. will not shine like the chrome, it is softer you will see it when you over tigthen the bolts. The chrome repop is not true spring steel, most platers say they cannot replate for price of a repop. Anyone else? Mike

An original 1932 bumper has Chevy bowties on the back face of the bumper. It took me awhile to find and original that was nice enough to chrome and not damage the bowties. Repros are good for drivers but it think it is worth finding an original if you are doing a show car.

Joe,
Approximately late 33 or early 34 a change was made from the Chevrolet "bow-tie" to GM or GMD. It depends on the part when the actual change was made. Most people are aware of the spark plug ends but many don't know of the ID on the back side of the bumper.

Chipper, Would that same time frame be when they changed from Chevrolet packaging to GM packaging?

I have never researched the timing but would not be surprised if they are not in the same few years.
