Well today I picked up the 1927 Capital 1-Ton Parts truck. It is mostly complete, some good sheet metal and other parts. I'll check over the drive train and engine, but it looks like some is very salvagable. If anyone is in need of parts, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

I am sure there may be a few parts I could use! I got my truck home last week but have been down with that cold that is going around and haven't had much time to see what all I need. I do know I need the floor boards or at least the metal parts for them or enough of the wood for patterns. also one side of lower seat springs as one I have is out of something else possibly a jump seat back from some kind of touring car. Although my truck is solid and original, butchers started to take it apart with a torch and they cut the floor boards out with a sawzall! Thank God they quit before they did too much damage! My number is 812-383-4234. Call anytime, Bob

Bob,
The floor boards were replaced sometime ago with what appears to be plywood. They are weathered but should be good for templates and I believe the hardware is all there, but I'll look again.
The truck sat for years in the weather. The roof was missing and sorry to say, the seats as well. The seat box is there with the tags still on it, but it is weathered badly.
Surprisingly, alot of the remaining parts and sheet metal are still very good.
Today, I focused on gently recovering the parts I needed and when the weather clears, I can look it over and inventory the other good parts.

I think they might have been plywood originally. The toe board is partially on mine as it was cut around the accellerator button and it is plywood. The bottom board may have been as well and shows no places where it was screwed down on the body rails so I think it must have just been set in place. There is one board that I have and it is directly in front of the seat platform. It is about 2" wide and that one is in good shape. I am also missing the radiator support rod that goes to the fire wall, the vac tank, and just about anything else that would have bolted to the firewall. The bolts that hold the cab to frame are also gone as are the screws to hold the steering column to the dash. I may go today and look somemore. My Email is spentrkts@aol.com

There's only a few things I am missing on my own truck (A 1928, but these parts are interchangeable, as far as I can tell) is the dash panel light and one of the bottom windowframe sills (with the lip used to pull the door shut)

The worst is the two back fenders that go over the wheels. Seems like the previous owner ripped those off when he put the overly large stake-bed on it. I figure those will take some work finding replacements though. The front fenders are so beat up, that I don't know if they will ever be able to be restored.

Let me know if you have any of those and if you're willing to part with them?

After looking over the truck, I found the tags and I believe it is a 1928 LO. I have the bottom window garnish, but I harvested the grips that go in them as hat was one of the critical parts I was missing. I also have the dash panel light, but will have to look at the condition of it.
Since it was a stake bed, it does not have rear fenders. As far as front fenders, yours can't be worse than the ones I repaired. Mine were dented, cracked and rusted through...it's amazing what a TIG welder can do, as they now look new!
Let me know if you are still interested in the door sill and I'll look over the dash light to see if it is salvageable.

Bob,
It turns out that the parts truck is a 1928 LO. I have the radiator support rod. It's a little bent but can be straightened. You're welcome to the floor boards from this one, or templates from my 1928 that I am restoring. I'll look at how they are fastened, as I believe they are bolted to the Cowl support braces. The bottom board, nearest the seat, rested in cutouts on the large bottom boards that mount the cab to the frame. The vac tank is toast, as it is rsted through the bottom. I'll eMail you after I harvest the parts.
Regards,
Paul

Florent,
You may want to post your question as a new topic in the forum. A lot of readers may not find it buried under my topic.
Anyways, here are a couple links that may help answer some of your questions.
http://chevy.tocmp.com/chevyresto/28index.htm
you will find specification information such as HP, fuel consumption curve, etc. It is listed for the 1928, but I believe the 1927 was close if not the same.

http://home.earthlink.net/~scrippsbooth/chev.html
This link has a good bunch of information to identify differences in years and includes the Capital.
Best,
Paul

Hi Sky1928, did you check on the floor boards yet? I sure could use them soon. I will also need the screws or bolts or what ever holds them down as mine were cut off with a torch and I have no idea what they were or look like. I picked up a large diameter vac tank that one guy says fits 28 truck and another says the small dia short tank was used on 28 trucks, what one does your have?

Hi Bob,
Please check my March 17 reply. You are welcome to the floorboards I have from the 1928 LO. They are not in the best of shape and not complete. I could also draw templates from those on my 1928 LP if you would like. Regarding the hardware, please send me a picture of your situation. The front floor boards screw to the cowl support braces and the horizontal boards sit into recesses on the cab sill boards. They are loose and not screwed. In your case, did they cut out the cowl supports?
Regarding the vacuum tank, my LP uses a Stewart Warner Model 493-C. It is 4.5" in diameter and ~8.75' tall not including the fittings. The two supporting clamps are Stewart Warner P-3779.
The bad one on the LO is a Stewart "Magnum Feed System". It is 4.5" in diameter and 8.25" tall. Hope that helps!
Do you still need the radiator support rod?

Sorry I don't have pictures right now, my didgital camera quit.I have no floor in my truck at all. They cut the wood around the accellerator button and starter button out with a sawzall so the is a small chunk there. Too bad they did that as it was very nice wood for what little is left. I am missing the metal foot rest and the metal plate that the clutch and brake pedals rest on. they also cut the heads off the screws with a torch where they bolt to the cowl supports, but the supports are there. Yes I need the rod too! Is the Magnum tank the one with the sheet metal top? I will be leaving in a couple weeks to get a 23 Olds 1 ton truck I bought so want to get this done before I go. Here is my phone number or you can post yours and I will call you. 812-383-4234
