My 31 was missing all three flywheel pans. I finally came up with a set but need to know what kind of bolts did they hold them on with? Round head slotted or hex head? Thanks

1/4 " Stove Bolts thus the name Stove Bolt Six. A round head screw with lock washer. I think they are 1/2 " long.

The bolts are 1/4-20 x 3/4" round head slotted. Also used are 1/4 plain washers, 1/4 lockwashers and 1/4-20 square nuts. laugh laugh laugh

i did not recall any square nuts on these pieces and i made a big mistake by not putting these pieces on before i put the engine in the frame used to working on the later models without the cross member right behind the pan it took chip and i about two hours .had to take the starter off rear mounting bolts out raise the rear of the engine to get the top piece in for a while we thought we were going to have to remove the pan. so what i,m saying is if the engine is in the frame with the pan on the front pieces are difficult to get in . it only takes one time for me and i pay close attention to these pieces hope this helps oldpush

I have a couple of 28 transmissions still mounted to the cross members which indicate to me it was easier to pull the transmission and crossmember together, and yes they have slotted stovebolts with square nuts.

Is the subject 6-cylinders or did I bat an eye and the subject change to 4-cylinders?

Hey pushrod, I did the same thing and to get them in after the fact is a tough job. You have to pull the engine again to do it right. You can trim a few edges and get the front plate to go in but it is a lot of work. cool cool
