I am in the process of swaping the 207ci. engine in a 1936 1.5 ton chevy truck with a 58-62 235ci. and want to use the origional trans. I need a bellhousing that matches the 235 engine bolt pattern and will also bolt to the 1936 trans. The clutch and brake bracket has to bolt to the bellhousing. What years of bellhousings will acomplish this? As the 207's flywheel will not mate to the 235 I will also need to know years for the complete cluch assembly. Thank you for any help you can be.

You may want to give Tom Langdon a call at Langdon Stovebolt. Do a search for his web site and he has his phone # posted there. Tom is very knowledgable with inlne swaps being a retired GM engineer. He is in Utica Mich.

I put a 1941 216 engine and 4 speed out of a truck into a 1933 1-1/2 ton chassis. It involved changing the rear cross member to support the rear engine mounts. The one I used came out of 1937 truck. Also the 216 and 235 are shorter engines then the 207 so a front support had to be fabricated for the motor mouunt. As for your bell housing question I think something out of the 40's would work. But the rear cross member will requre changing. From my experince this is not a easy swap.
