Hi:
'28 capital springs need some help. I took them off the truck and the all the holes are egg shaped.

The bolt type devices with the grease fittings are all messed up with some actually broken, and most need replaced. AND they appear to be shorter than needed... I wonder if they were mickey mouse replaced somewhere in the past...it was a working truck in Prince Edward Island Canada so nobody was thinking NOS or anything like that.

Lastly, the center bolts of the springs are rusted but holding.. not sure why there's not much left. (I guess time and water do that to 'ya.)

A. Can I simply have the shop drill and sleeve the holes?
B. The bolt type devices...with the grease fittings.. are there replacements out there? (What do you call them?)
C. I'm not a spring guy but if I put the spring in a vise, can I simply replace these center bolts?
D. Any suggestions on sand blasting... If I have them apart for the center bolt replacement, should I paint them or lube them or what?

Thanks for the help.

Joined last month and the book is good. Looking forward to getting this truck done and you guys are helping.

Don

This is cool. The 2 springs on the front end of this truck are different. Probably replaced some years ago. Are photos of these springs out there somewhere?

Thanks

Thank you much. For no reason at all, I figured that "this one" was the replacement. Now I'm off to the appropriate source for the correct replacement.
