I assume that by idle linkage you are refering to the hand throttle cable (and hand choke cable). There is a Y shapped bracket that is mounted under the carb. air horn screw. The rear screw towards the engine. It has a loop on the outter ends, one of whch aims down and the other horizontal. The outter part of the choke cable is clamped by the horizontal loop (tightened by a scrw) and the throttle calbe in the verticle loop. Do you have this bracket? Each of the extensions where the cables clamp is about 2" long. I can never find a good picture.
