Does anyone remember if the 50 1/2 tons had a serial # on the frame that coresponded to the #'s on the Id plate ??

No ID (serial) number, on frame, of '47-'55 1st series G.M. trucks. Only number is on the ID tag, of the driver door jamb. If it's a 2 1/2 ton, or larger '47-'55 GMC Truck, it will have a "GMC Truck Service Parts Identification" tag, on the back of the glove box lid, with this same ID no. on it.
