I asked this in another forum with mixed answers. Does the 51-52 tissue dispenser hold the whole box of tissues in the box or are the tissues placed in loose. And what size box is needed, can the correct size still be purchased? Thanks

All of the new old stock tissue dispensers that I have seen and owned had the stack of tissues in the dispensers without a box.

wink :)

I have gotten boxes of tissues from house keepers in motels. They are just the right size. Just be kind and leave a tip.

When the tissue dispensers were made and sold a thinner tissue box was available. It fit into the dispenser. The boxes today are too large except maybe for the hotel/motel versions mentioned by Jim.

FYI, the dispensers became unpopular when the tissue boxes would not fit. That was in the early 60s as I remember. Had a '63 Biscayne wagon that had a tissue dispenser and it was useless when I got it in 1966. The dispenser that is the car was great.

I finally seen a picture of one installed with the front open. Looks to me like they would have to go in loose on the 51-52 dispensers. No box, thick or thin, old or new would fit.

thanks, fellas!
