Good afternoon folks...
How does the wiper vacuum hose route from the firewall to the wiper motor on a 32 sedan? Secondly, how does one trouble shoot the horn circuit? Remove the steering wheel etc?

Thanks for all you do to help all of us novices.

There is a fitting on the manifold with a short (~6") piece of tubing arched toward the hole in the firewall. A rubber hose connects to the tubing and connects to a tube that runs down the driver side windhield post. Some also have a piece of tubing inside that runs from just inside the firewall to the tubing that is inside the post. A short piece of hose connects the tubing.

You can check the horn wire with an ohm meter or VOM or similar test instrument. If it is grounded with the steering wheel stationary or being turned the wire/bushing needs to be replaced. The steering wheel needs to be removed and the column tube taken off to replace the bushing. Instructions are included with the new bushings available from several vendors. The reproduced bushing is a first rate product with upgraded modern materials.

Do we need to take a short detour to the WW switch/control?

Chipper - I've had intermittent success with my horn working. Your suggestion sounds first rate. Do you mean that if I look up and buy new bushings from one of the well-known reproduction catalogs, they'll also include detailed instructions on how to R/R the column and bushings?

Depending on the year, we may have the control on the back of the wiper motor.

Chipper...I have the external fitting, hose to the firewall but I cannot find the tube in the driver's side W/S post. I'll look again. I might need some instruction on how the wiper swith functions...My horn simply does not work at all...I'll remove the steering wheel and tube and see if I can find a connection problem. If I use a jumper wire from 6 volts to the horn on the light bar, it toots real good...

Thanks...

For 1932 the wiper switch is part of the wiper motor assembly.

The bushing holds the top of the steering shaft inplace plus has a brass ring to provide a ground path when the button legs contact the ring. The wire attached to the ring must be sound or the horn will not. It is common for the wire to be broken, original bushing to be worn so the steering shaft wobbles.

Yes all the suppliers have been given an instruction sheet to include with the bushings. It is included in the first order from the manufacturer. If you don't get one let me know and I will hammer on the supplier plus send one to you.
