Hell All!!, I'm new to the forum and have a question about production numbers, I have found a 29 imperial landau sedan and have been serching for production FACTS about the car, I have read in multiple places that about 300 were made and anywhere from 12 to 20 remain, I have also read on this forum that body numbers indicate more may have been produced, possibly as many as 8000, what are the starting numbers and ending numbers for this car??? is there any published production facts on it?? everything I read is not backed by anything. this car is rough and I just need to know if it is worthwhile to purchase. I believe it is reasonably priced at 1600 dollars, I am particularly interested in very rare low production cars and I am not interested if this one is not.

rumor had it that there were about 300 29 Chevy CONVERTIBLE LANDAUS produced, but i believe there were way more than 300 built. the car your interested in isn't a convertible landau but rather the imperial landau sedan. the former's rear 1/3 roof was in fact a convertible(one could lower the rear 1/3 of the roof just like any convertible). the imperial landau sedan had its entire roof fixed(ie, no conertible bows that dropped ). haven't ever heard of production #'s for the car you've found. mike

Hi Darren and welcome to Chevy Chatter II. Glad to have you join us! If the car you found is a Convertible Landau, then it is not all that rare. In checking the body numbers on existing cars, the number of models produced exceeds 8,000 so far, and there are virtually HUNDREDS of them still in existence. Some of the existing body numbers of these cars were posted on this site in the past. Convertible Landau sedans have been popping up regularly for decades and apparently here is another one that has surfaced that we can add to the list. By the way, is the cowl plate on the firewall still on the car? If so, you might want to check the Job Number and the Body Number that is stamped on the cowl plate and post them here for us to view. :)

The '29 Convertible Landau Sedan is indeed a low production model. If only 8000 were made as Chevrolets and much less as Pontiacs that still makes them low production compared with other '29 models.
Seems that many other people felt they were unique and worth saving so apparently a much higher percentage of the original production still exists compared with other '29 models.
Guess it depends your personal criteria if the vehicle is worth your time. They sure are not like Model A's.

I have only seen pictures and spoke to the owner, saturday I am going to go see it and get better pictures, check vin numbers etc, I'll agree that 8000 or so is still a low production number and probably worth saving!! but we'll see just how bad it is this weekend. Thanks for the info!! Darren
