I have a wooden floor board in my 37 that I know is not original but it fits like it was made for it,the parking brake and 3 speed shifter come out the holes perfectly so what year is it for. Its in two pieces, one large piece and another thin piece where it meets the toe board. I do not need it any more since I have found a correct metal floor board so I need to know what year its for so I can find someone who needes it. Jeff

Jeff - It's possible it was made by someone to fit your truck. On the other hand, the 36 second series pickup had a wooden floor board. I'll let someone else chime in and tell both of us if the 36 second series, 37 and 38 floor board were the same. While the 36 second series cab resembled the 37-38 cab and looks almost exactly like a 37-38 cab, there are some minor differences that may not be evident when it comes to something like the floor board. All the high cab 1934-1936 trucks had wooden (plywood) two piece floor boards and the single units trucks (panels, Suburban and canopy) have the same boards throughout the year. The low cab should be an all metal floor board all though I prints that show what looks to be a wooden floor? . 36 low cab floor p/n 477277 pickup and p/n 477301 1.5 ton low cab were different than the 37-38 p/n 594993 (4 speed) and p/n 594987 (3 speed). I'll try to do a thorough search in my truck data.

34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

Of the 1/2 dozen of 1936 GMC low cabs that I know of, mine included, all have plywood flooring. This may have been a GMC thing, since all GMC's made that year were at the Pontiac Plant. I would be interested if anyone has seen a 1936 GMC with a metal floor and if the Chevrolet floor would bolt right. I would think that it would, since they were identical cabs.

Well that verifies my Chevrolet Indianapolis prints now that I have dug them out; they do show a wood plywood floor in the low cab. Thanks for the update. All my trucks are the 34-35 and I have one High cab 36 parts truck. GMC at least in the high cabs were the same as Chevrolet. The GMC ID tag & location was different and there are some other small parts in the GMC. It isn't unusual for GM to make running changes during the production year.

When my uncle retired my 37 he took the original floorboard to remove the battery and lost it,this wooden one came from what I thought was a 37 but since it was just a cab on a chassis it could of been a 36. I needed a floor and since the wooden one was available I grabbed it,its getting the correct metal floorboard now. Jeff

Jeff - I have been looking for a metal floor. May I ask where you came up with it? Joe

I got it off someone through the internet,I thought I would never find one but there is a company called direct sheetmetal that makes a floor with a stock firewall which was going to be my next stop. Jeff

You have a military or Government truck (C.C.C., Forest Service, W.P.A etc.) ordered directly from Chevrolet and their Bid specified either a normal crank out windshield or the swing arm type which they used the same as 34-35 dash and swing arms. The swing arms are longer than the normal 34-35 so the windshield would open almost 90 degrees.

Pickup Man,
Any chance you could send me a copy of the floorboard prints. I'm getting ready to re-do my 36 FB low cab's plywood floor. Thanks!

I can make a set of drawings for you of the 34-35 and 36 high cab floor plywood boards; do you have a 3 speed or 4 speed transmission? E-mail me your postal address too.
