I thought I read somewhere that VCCA National was going to start charging Regions $5.00 per professional judged car? If this is true, is there any policy that was passed by the BOD that would prohibit the Region from passing the fee along to the judging participant as a separate line item instead of adding it to the standard show registration fee? Or did I just dream that National was going to start charging to offset the costs of supplying the awards to the Regions for professional judged events? Finally, if it is true that National is going to start charging, where was it published? I have been looking at all of my G&Ds, the VCCA site and the VCCAChat site and I can’t find a reference to it.
Thanks!

Jim, All awards needed from the VCCA will cost $5.00. The cost of production, shipping and now an increased number of awards offered by the VCCA had forced us to ask that the cost of this be offset by those who participate. The Area Board Members have been instructed to notify the Meet Chairs and have them work it into the operating budget for that meet. Who ever gave you the information about not being able to forward the cost to the participants did not supply the correct information. This was published in the minutes two years ago, in the G&D. Have a good day, John Mahoney National Judging Chair

I think that the new charge of $5.00 is fair, and the BOD should do the same thing for the passport awards, charge those that get the awards. Those that benefit from the programs should bear the cost of their awards.

Will this fee be charged per vehicle judged or per vehicle receiving an award? I have no problem with it but I would like to know. However it is I believe it should be universal for all VCCA Meets.

Let me clarify this, there seems to be some confusion:
There is no fee to any vehicle, just that every award that is supplied by the VCCA and ordered by the hosting region will cost $5.00. The only charge for any supplied award before this was the Preservation Mini's, now not only the minis, but the boards, tabs, and ovals will cost $5.00 to every region ordering them. Why would you think that this would not be universal to every meet? John Mahoney National Judging Chair

John, Your answer tells me it is universal to every judging meet. As I understand your answer every judging meet will pay $5.00 for every award they order and give out. Is this not true? If not please explain the difference.

Jim, I do not think I can make it any clearer than I have. It is true, every award will cost $5 that is supplied by the VCCA. How a region or Meet Chair figures it into their budget is up to them. It is no different then figuring the cost of the judges breakfast into the budget. John

John,
Thanks for the quick reply. The fee seems very reasonable to me and by National charging this fee, the costs are offset a bit by those members who use this service instead of the whole costs being passed on to the general membership. I would guess the $5 dollars only covers a portion of the actual cost of providing the VCCA award materials to the regions and meets.
I am not sure if we will pass this cost along or not to the judged vehicle owners, I just wanted to understand this a bit more before our next show committee meeting. However, doing the math, 20 judged vehicles @ $5 dollars each works out to $100 dollars. Most likely we will make it up some other way instead of adding an additional line item to our registration form. But that is a question for our show committee I guess.
Thanks again!
