We pulled two 600X16's and two 650X16's off my 1950 3100, and are trying to confirm whether these were the original size tires that came on the truck. I am waiting for a few manuals I have ordered to come in that will hopefully have this info, but might anyone be able to confirm this? Also looking to find out if the wheels were originally painted body color?
Thanks!

The original wheels were 16" X 4" (wide). In mid 1951 the wheel width was changed to 4 1/2" and after that time the 4 1/2 wheel was sold for replacement for the prior years. From 1947-1950 the trucks were also available with a 15" X 5" wheel that used a 6.70 X 15 tire. This was rare for trucks but the same wheel was used for the optional 15" wheel on 1948 cars. and they were a little more common.

Thanks Gene. I appreciate all the info. I should have followed up chevy b's post earlier, but when he says that the 600X16's are the original size, were all four the same size? Or did any of the trucks come with the 650X16's on the rear? In regards to the wheels, I was hoping to find out what their original color was. Were they painted black? Body color? White even?

Full tire story for 1950 1/2 ton trucks- Standard size was 6.00X16 6 ply Optional was 6.50X16 6 ply. Optional was 6.70X15 6 ply These tires all had the pasenger car type tire/tread design. Today I would replace then with a 4 ply (6 may not be available in car type tire) as they would give a better ride and the extra load capacity is not necessary. All tires would be of the same size. The most common tire was the US Royal. Not being reproduced today but the Goodrich and Firestones reproduced today have the same tread design used in 1950. Those were the three brands Chevrolet used in 1950. Wwould have been black walls for trucks.
Extra heavy duty option was a heavy truck type 15" wheel that used either a 7.00x15 or 7.50X15 6 ply truck type tire.
The 1/2 ton truck wheels were black, except the suburban and panels with the DeLuxe equipment (chrome trim on fenders) had body colored wheels with stripes.
