I am in the process of installing my radio and manual says to hook power to ammeter and it shows a condenser on the back of gauge cluster and another one on the generator. Are these a special condenser? Where would I find them?

Tim,

I am away from home and my radio manual and schematic, but when I return I will see if I can help you figure this out. It is unlikely that these are "special" it should just be a matter of finding the appropriate values for the capacitors. They may have to do with noise suppression.

I too have a 7 tube radio for my 37, but have not yet got to the point of installing it. I have replaced all of the capacitors in my radio and tested the tubes, so I am anticipating that it will work fine. I still need to get a new solid state vibrator, but that's about it.

Thanks Rick. Just got mine back from the repair shop and was looking at the manual and it looks like there is one on the amp meter and one on the generator. (p.s the radio you have is the one I sold you. I have the same radio also. Just waiting to get my reconed speaker back)

NAPA used to have them. As I remember the number was RC1. Maybe they still do....

I tried NAPA last winter, no luck. I got caps from Jimmy Carter's catalog, his are all the same value, and I have one on the ammeter, regulator and generator. With stock plug wires (copper) I have no noticeable noise. The subject is a completely stock 1950, 3600 with restored xxx443 radio, new caps, new resistors new wiring where needed. This doesn't apply to your radio but maybe someone else would appreciate it. I completely disassembled the PB tuner mechanism cleaning and straightening and also disassembled the volume/tone/on off switch and rebuilt it. The radio feels and works like it's fresh from the factory.
Only complaint that I have is, I can only get one local Oldies station and Toronto at night the rest of the time it's just old dudes listening to them selves talking.
