What ever happened to the 78-80 mainly 80 monte carlos. I see a few 78-79s for sale(but not that often) but rarely do i see any 80 monte carlos for sale. Did these cars have known problems which have kept them from being desired cars for restoration. I am tossing around the idea of trying to tocate and purchase a 1 but don't know much about those years. I have had a 73 and 76 when i was in high school and recently a 70. I never see them forsale anymore.

The Monte sales dropped off in 1980. In 1978 there were 358,000 sold. In 1979 316,900. In 1980 148,840. 1981 187,850.
1980 was a low production year due to the poor economy of the country. Many dealers went broke in 1980.The restyled 1981 Monte Carlos were generally considered a much better looking car..
