I got my '31 brake linings at Laycook, 259 E. Butler Ave. in Memphis, TN. I live near there, so I took my shoes to them, and they installed the new linings. You could ship your shoes to them, or they probably would sell you the lining material. Their phone # is 901-523-1418. They did a good job. My brakes work great!

6wheel's reference sounds like a good deal. Also Gary Wallace has all the linings in his new catalog in the under carriage section. http://www.20schevyparts.com/They also come up for sale from time to time on ebay.

I had my 1930 brakes relined by a shop that did semi truck brakes. I guess they still use rivets and they cut the linings to fit. They did a good job for me.

I also had my 31 shoes relined at a local clutch and brake shop here in California.

Brass wire woven through light colored asbestos fiber.Looked exactly the same as the old stuff that was on the car. Will try to put a picture on here when I get home.

big D,
Can you email me a photo of the brake linings? I'll reply back to your email and explain how to post pics on VCCA.
Thanks,
Mike
