I just purchased a 1941 chevy, or so the owner says. looking at some of the photos i think it is a 42, it appears to have a leather gas filler gromett, and 1 door is handle keyed while the other(passenger) is door keyed and the bed wood is missing so i do not know if it a 6 board or 7 board bed(41 vs. 42). regardless the owner says it is a military ordered truck and is recognizable as such by the riveted trim on all of the fenders. he called it an admirals truck as the story is that it was purchased by or for an admiral of the US Navy. can anybody give me a history lesson on these vehicles, if they actually existed, and does anyone know where i might begin to research this. thanks so much

The 1941 trucks had a chrome grille and bumpers. The 1942 had painted. Both had rubber hood corner bumpers, rubber floor mat, full rubber door weather striping. The trucks built in late 1944-45 for civilian use had leather hood corner bumpers, no front floor mat, some of the door weather strip was removed, etc. They had the 1942 1/2 ton BK serial number. They also came in dark green only. What is on the serial number plate? There was also an early 1946 truck that was a CK and and built like a 1942 a late 1946 that was a DP and had the chrome grille ,etc. an some improvements.. What do you mean by riveted trim? I do have more info. but not handy tonight.
