Got a set of these from a reputable supplier frequently mentioned on this site a couple of years ago when I first started messing with my 1924 Superior four banger. Debugging a problem which turned out to be the vacuum tank I had occasion to replace the plugs. The local Advance Auto parts store here had the same plug (Autolite 3076) listed as agriculture plugs. Reading about plugs on this forum and seeing how short these plugs are, I am wondering if there is a better alternative, maybe a longer plug?
I am not sure why I care because these plugs turned out not to be the problem and are only $2.00 each which makes them pretty much a yearly maintenance item if need be. Just curious what you all think about plugs.
Thanks,
Bruce

My experience with autolite plugs at $1 each they turn out to be expensive. I bought a box of 10 for a 4 cylider car and within in a week I had used all (1 failed before and 1 during the test run) and then fitted a set of bosch in the same carand replaces them 25,000 miles later. Tony

Well, I certainly have had better luck than that with the Autolites. I wonder about a longer plug. Do the bosch extend further down into the cylinder??
Thanks,
Bruce

Generally every manufacturer makes the plugs to the same dimensions, meaning plugs listed for a particular engine are the same from all brands. Tony

Keep your eyes open for an AC-78S. It must be one of the older plugs as the current 78-S is only 1/2 inch reach. This will be your best solution unless you run into some AC-B plugs.

If you can get hold of them, you could try a set of CHAMPION W89D plugs. These plugs are also for agricultural machinery, but they have a reach about,or slightly more than the AC78S plugs. :)
