Some history. Took original fuel lines off car to be restored. Lines are 5/16 OD. Fuel tank has many holes so I purchased a 36 tank, had the filler tube from the 35 tank transplanted on the 36 tank while the tank was being reconditioned. Tank is now back it the car. OOPS! The connection for the fuel line to the tank has space for only a 1/4 inch diameter line. Now I need a special fitting or series of fittings to adapt the line to the tank. Did the fuel line diameter change from 35 to 36?????

My 1940 parts book shows that the 1934 Master, 1935 and 1936 Master has 5/16. The 1934 Standards and 1935-36 Standards has 1/4". So I would assume that your new tank came from a 1936 Standard.....adapter time :)

I hope the 1/4 fitting does not restrict flow too much. They must have used the 5/16 line for a reason on Master models - with higher max horsepower and thus more maximum fuel consumption. However, I suspect it will be seldom that I use max throttle at a high enough engine speed to be a problem.

In 1936 the Master and Standard had exactly the same engine, etc. so I woud be at a loss to explain the difference in size.
