Hi Guys!
It's hard to believe, but this time is coming again.
This text will appear in the November G&D. I'm excited about the great photos I have for '08 - I think you guys will really like this!

Anyway, here we go again.............

By now you may have heard of this project. This will be the 5th year for the VCCA Member’s Calendar. These calendars are made with photos club members have sent me. Since this is not for my financial gain, but to promote the club, I need to know how many calendars to get printed. I only charge what the copies cost me. Please let me know if you would like a copy by December 1st. The best thing would be is if each region could survey how many calendars their members would like and report that number to me, again by December 1st, then I can get a final number of what the cost will be. To help keep the cost per calendar to a minimum, I would rather ship bundles of calendars to a contact in each region. The past four years the final cost has been in the $11-$12 range. The more volume we have the lower the cost. Please contact me with your idea of how many calendars I need to get printed and/or if you would like your car photo to be considered for our 2009 calendar. My email address is jak1932@yahoo.com. My home address is 9070 Oakstone Trail, Chardon, Ohio 44024.

If you would like to have your car featured in our 2009 calendar, please consider two points when photographing your car: The photo should be taken in a setting that could resemble the vintage of the car (no modern vehicles, people or buildings in the background), and photograph your car with the light source at your back so the car is in direct light with minimal shadowing. Also, please photograph the car with a high resolution digital camera

Thanks!
Jim

Have you been able to combine efforts with Mike to gain sponsors for the next calendar? Meguiar's importer in Norway has made a rapidgrowing business this year, and is gaining valuable shares of that market. Hope there are other superb importers around too, so the sponsorship will be to the benefit for VCCA, members, sponsor and the calendar in many countries.

Hi Erling,

I don't quite have the calendars ready yet, but it won't be too much longer. Again, the problem is having enough (volume) printed to get a good price. I've already had some orders but won't have a final count until late November. I'm going to be a little more careful this year as I speculated how many 2007 calendars to print and ended up with 19 left over - ouch!
No big deal, I just need to be more careful.
As far as getting sponsorship, I heard nothing back from Maguiar's????
Thanks for all your continual help on this project - I've reserved you're 10 copies.

I have sent you a PM copy of a PM to Mike Welsch. Hope you both can sort this out to the benefit for the calendar and all members, and fast.

Meguiar's is doing very well and has gained a good share of the Norwegian market in only some few years, with this as the best till now. I take it they will grow much more in the years to come.

bigl yay

I have checked the pages of October G&D (and the Aug./Sept) and to my great grief,

NOTHING about the VCCA Calendar 2008,

What a blunder!

Why on earth can we expect this to be under the Christmas tree, enjoying the whole next year when no one is reminding us of buying and giving them to Chevy lovers?

A full page message in November issue could repair some of the damage, as December issue will be too late.

Tragedy, tragedy, tragedy, folk!!!! stressed stressed

Hi Solan,
Jim's setting this up all by himself and doing it cost free all while holding down a full time job and spending time with his family, I hope so we need a little patience. :) However, I'm just as anxious to see it as you are. Sure would be nothing wrong if the price is $12 and we send him a check for say $15 or so just to say thanks. idea Sure is worth it. ok Hope some day mine can be in it. auto Oh yes, just you & I posting something here once is a while is a great reminder. Thanks. :cool2:

I seem to recall seeing something about each Region having a "spokeman" so to speak. Taking a count of how many calendars, so Jim could ship a "whole bunch" of calendars to one person in each Region. Rather than one here, two there, etc.

Seeing as how I haven't heard any more about that idea and I want to be sure to get one, I'd like to "order" ONE VCCA 2008 calendar right here, right now.

(Jim: my mailing address in Portland, OR is the same as last year. When do I send the money???)

Thanks, Jim.

Yes, I have known for more than 2 years what he has been doing. A great and time/money-demanding job, for sure. But how could it be possible for us: (BOD, G&D's editor, regions, members and Jim himself to forget to announce the next calendar in the Regions, in G&D and here on the net for so long??

I cannot understand it, but something must be done to make the calendar survive = min. 300 pcs sold before printing at end of November.

Yes, that was mentioned, but somewhere along that road someting must have turned very wrong, and left us with a possibility to such a low quantity that it will not be produced this year.

So, does anyone have a fast and good solution to remove this major drawback of this season?????? and reach a useful number of calendars 2008!!!!!
stressed stressed idea yay

I'm sending the calendar out for quotes Monday (11-12-07).
I should have a breakdown of the costs based on number of copies by late next week. So far I haven't had too much interest, but it still is early in the month. I will have however many copies printed that have been requested the 1st week in December. They will be shipped beginning the week of December 10th.
I'll keep you'll posted.
Thanks!

Where can you order it? I was at the club site, and it only had info for the 2007 calendar.

Seems like you could use the 2007 info you mention. It's the same guy, Jim Knopp.

Somebody should have sent an update to me so that I could post it...
I'll tweak the web site to indicate that 2008 is now ready for orders.

Bill,

I have added this to our regional website. It shows a few months of the 2008 calendar and gives some ordering information.

You can use this link on the National site if you wish.
