I would like to find and purchase a preferably stock 1956 Chevy 150, 2-door post, with the 3-speed column shift including overdrive. Preferably with the 265 V8. I would also take a 210 or Belair 2-door post with the same options. Is there anyone out there who would like to sell one or even tell me if they have one, but that it isn't for sale? I had one of these in North Dakota from 1959 to 1961, but let it go. Been kicking myself ever since.

Ritch,

Check this web site Chev Connection

There's two 57 150's there. Not 56's; but maybe one of them could scratch your itch....

Hi Bill

Those are two very nice 57's, but I have this nostalgic yearn for a 56. The one I had was an ex-border patrol model from ND, where I lived at that time. It was of course, the bare bones 150 2-door post, 3-speed manual with overdrive, 4 barrel, dual exhaust, and the police interceptor engine version. I don't think I will ever find one of those again, but if I can find a 56 2-door post with overdrive I can slip a 283 or 350 in.

Thanks,
Ritch

Hey Ritch,

Interesting (maybe only to you and me), my first car was a former Oregon State Police car. Basically the exact car you had, only mine was a 55. 150, 265 power pack, radio delete, etc. etc. Quite a little "hot rod." Especially in 1960, when I bought it.

There's a twin to the one I had 47 years ago down here that I see every week during the summer at a local cruise-in at Portland Internatl Raceway.

As for you finding one like you used to have, I wouldn't stop looking. One could pop up any day. There was an awfully nice 1956 150, 265 power pack, 3 speed that was pretty darn orginal looking in the pix. It was in the SF Bay Area. I think I first noticed it around last (2006) Summer-Fall. It was on their web site for months and months. Probably the better part of a year. The place is called Los Gatos Auto Haus. Frankly, I'd suggest you google it. For all I know it's still there.

Well anyway, good luck finding "your" 56.

Bill.

I had a 56 2dr sedan 150 also. It was a 283 4 speed with 411's and i thought it was pretty fast back then. Brown primer with mags on the front and black steelies out back. Boy do i feel old now.

Hey Ritch,

I just thought of another '56 150 that was for sale recently. It didn't exactly match your 'wanted' one. As I recall this one was a 235, PG car. But it was a neat car and sparked 4-5 pages of posts in "General Discussions." Back in Sept, 2007. Check it out. You might find it interesting reading....

Hi Bill

Thanks for the vote of confidence in finding a 56 like the one that I had. I checked out those sights you referred to. The reason I was looking for an overdrive version, is because I don't imagine the overdrives for the 56 are easy to find. And I gotta have a 3-speed overdrive to relive the dream. I don't see that Los Gatos 56 listed now. That would have been awesome to find one that easy.

I don't need a $60,000 version, but I will keep looking and hope that I can find one that is a little less premium. What do you guys think a 56, 150 or 210, 3-speed overdrive is worth? Say in a number 3 or 4 condition.

Ritch
