I have a friend that wants to purchase a car in Canada. It is running & driving. Does anybody know what he may expect when he goes through Canadian customs & what he might expect going through U.S. customs? Anybody know about fees? Taxes? Papers he will need? Papers the vehicle will need? He will be going over north of Spokane. Thanks, Joe

Sorry Joe. Just seen this post. I'm not sure how it will work going over to the States but coming this way the US customs needs the paperwork 72 prior to you bringing the car over. He needs to call both customs, US and Canada and call the point of entry that he is going thru. For some reason they all seem to have their own rules. Some points he needs to have on hand when asking. Does it have a current ownership and is it currently licensed. Is he going to be with the car or is he having it shipped. Alot of the info can be had online but he should still call. There should be no duty if the car is North American made.NAFTA. Joe here's a link. www.bordercenter.org/chem/vehicle.htm
