In the process of putting my front springs back on the frame. The front spring bolt has me puzzled. Does it use seals between the spring and front mounting bracket? Do you center the spring in the bracket? How does the grease get from the grease fitting to the threaded length?
Appreciate any info.

The bolt threads through the hanger and the bushing pressed into the spring eye. There are no seals and must be centered. The end of the bolt has a hex for tightening. the center of the hex had a threaded hole for a grease filing. The first half of the bolt is hollow and the when it ends at what would be the center of the bushing, it cuts off at a right angle so the grease would get to the center of the bushing and travel out to the ends.
With your email address I can send a picture.

Anybody know where one can find these spring eye bolts? If one is worn do I have to rethread the hanger?

If the bolt never turned it the hanger the hanger threads will be OK. If properly tightened it would not have turned. If the bolt is worn the threads in the bushing are also worn and both should be replaced.
The bushing is part #379647 and fits various cars and trucks from1934 - 1955 front and rear
The bolt is part #477258 and fits 1936-40 cars.
Would try chevyb

How tight(torque) should the bolt be tightened?
The Filling Stations has these bolts.

They didn't give torque values back then, not even for engines. My 1952 truck shop manual gives torque for U bolts and wheel bearing nut but nothing else. Mentions shackles but not the spring eye bolt/bushing. See nothing for rear sprins either. If it were mine I would go about 80 ft. pounds at least.
