Greetings from the wilds of North Carolina

I just purchased my first vintage vehicle yesterday, a 1950 1/2 ton pickup. It's a driver, not a show car and I'm good with that. It's in excellent mechanical condition with a couple factory options... body is straight and in excellent condition but with a hideous paint job, but I guess I can put up with that for a while...

I want to begin gathering things like Repair Manuals and such so I can begin to research what I have to get to eventually replace/repair/add to get it up to snuff. Some little things like tailgate chains to more major things like emergency brake handles and door hardware... I'm sure you guys know what I mean.

Anyway, there are lots of places advertising and I'm just curious to know what you "veterans" would recommend as sources for books and parts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... and forgive my excitement. All my life I've wanted an antique vehicle and I'm VERY happy that, at age 60, that dream has finally come true.

Hi Woody and welcome to Chevy Chatter II.

For the best source of parts for your truck check with the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon and also Jim Carter's Truck Parts.

Good luck with your new toy!

wink :)

I agree. I have built two of these trucks, and relied heavily on Jim Carter Truck Parts. All they do are the Chevy / GMC trucks, and pretty much have it all.

Thanks guys, I know these forums get a lot of beginners asking the same questions over and over so I especially appreciate you taking the time to respond.
