Ok i think i have posed this question before but bare with me. Im about to order a wood kit from chevywood for an 1928 LP factory cab. Now down in NZ we never imported factory cabs so Im trying to use 1927 sedan panels and either make or aquire from ebay etc the remaining parts of which i now have most. I am hoping I can use front doors from a 1927 4dr sedan which I have. My question is - are the front doors from a 1927 4dr sedan the same or similar to the doors on a 1927 1928 factory commercial cab. Can anyone with a factory cab send me dimensions of the front doors. Im not concerned about minor detail - just the shape and size of the sheet metal. Hope someone can help.
Regards
Ken

Ken, I measured up the doors on my '28 LO which has the same sheet metal as a LP. The door is 25" wide at the bottom 25-1/2" at the top. 45-1/2 tall at the back of the door and 45-1/4 at the front of the door. These are outside measurments. Hope this helps you. Cleon

Thanks very much fro that Cleon

Measurements are exactly the same as front doors from a 1927 4dr sedan. The commercial cab appears to use cowl and front doors from the sedan - the only new pressing is the dash panel - the remainder of tin is easily made from flat panel steel.

Hi 28chevrebuild

Cost of wood kit from chevy wood for commercial cab is below in US$

Body Kit $1514.00
Roof kit $608.00
Door kit $455.00 each
Complete kit $2975.00

You can buy individual pieces. As freight is so expensive Im trying to work out what i can make and what i need to buy. I figure the most important parts required to work out cab dimensions are the A & B posts, sills and windshield header and lower cross bar. The rest you could knock up with a bench saw.

As far as tin goes see my reply above / below? . Basically 1927 sedan panels except dash which is not difficult to fabricate or buy second hand and switch to right hand drive.

Hope this helps

Ken
