By the way......Sal just sent me, via email, a photo of his air cleaner, and as suspected, his air cleaner is not a 1931 afterall, but a 1930, and the 1930 air cleaner did not use a wire mesh. Anyone out there have a 1931 air cleaner for Sal? laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hey Sal! Click on the eBay link that has been provided by Raymondo and you will see what the correct 1931 air cleaner looks like. It is in extremely rough condition and for the current bid of $87 the air cleaner is definitely not worth it......but the photo will give you an excellent idea of what you are looking for. Note the wire mesh in the back of the air cleaner and also note how this air cleaner differs from the 1930 air cleaner that you currently have now. laugh laugh laugh laugh

Who supplied the air cleaner to Chevrolet was it AC company? If so has any one attemped to contact there public relations departement, and ask were there old documents are kept or who they were given to after all it is a registered trade mark. Last year I picked up a Good Year wings radio at a swap meet it is from the 1930's I contacted Good Year about the radio, and they told me that they donated all of there old material to the University of Akron I did not attempt to do any more with it other than I have an address and witt follow up on it when I am ready.

Thanks JYD, I am planning to drive this car when it is done. I do think that I have to worry about some judge taking points off. I just want to drive it and have some fun.

Sal,
The place where you will also see these items come up for sale is in the VCCA club magazine : G & D. Also you can advertise for free. It is worth being a member. You can also check with I&I Reproductions in Paramount, Ca ph:(562) 531-8117 ask for Wendy. They repro'd this item at one time. Maybe they still have one around. It would also be worth getting their catalog. Check with Dale at Bowtie Reproductions: (440) 327-9599. Get Dale's catalog also. For who ever it is here, if you mention who referred you or that the VCCA Club did this helps all of us when we are looking for a hard to find part. These and more possible sources are in the club magazine. Let's know when you find the cleaner or we will keep looking too!

Thanks Doug, I am a member of the VCCA and also have the catalogs that you mentioned. The air cleaner that I bought came from an ad that I had in the G&D. Being a new kid I was just happy to get the air cleaner. But I will still keep looking for the correct one. In the mean time I will still be asking a lot of questions. Thanks again

Sal,
Why I asked about membership, I didn't see you listed under your profile. Did you get to check with I&I.
