Greetings !

I am preparing to plunge into a full resto on my Dad's basket-case '30 Chevy Special Sedan...

The shop manual states that the serial number is found on the right-front sill of the body, presumably on a plate rivetted to the wooden main sill.

Is this number stamped on the chassis or any other part of the car, and if so, where ?

The sill and the original serial plate are long gone...

Would also welcome quality sources for body wood.

Thanks !

Jim Rodman would have the wood for this car...possibly in stock. Give him a call at 219-797-3775. The small metal plate was attached to the wood sill with small nails near the passenger side of the front seat. You can see a picture of a serial number plate at http://1931chevrolet.com/. No numbers were stamped into the frame.....Joe

Joe,

Thanks for the information on the location of the serial number and the lead on body wood.

Best regards,
