Hi

I tried the search but it jammed.
Anyway, Are the identification numbers available here? I mean, I was asked whether I have a 27-30 four speed truck transmission to swap but I don't know these models that well. If there is a list of numbers where I can look the numbers, the I could easily see If I have an available gearbox. I can not give the numbers now, since the boxes are 350km away.

No, I had not seen those numbers, like I said the "search" jammed. Those numbers are mainly for Chevy six. Are the numbers same for older casts.
So the cast numbers for 4-speed truck transmission are:
1928: 590328
1929-31: 590369 352323

How about 1927?

The person was asking for a tranny, which has been used in 1972-30. I understood that it is the one same transmission type. Is there differences between these casts?

This is from memory but don't believe that Chevrolet used a 4 speed transmission until the late 1928 LP trucks. The same basic transmission was used in the 1 or 1 1/2 ton trucks thru the 1931 LT series. Beginning with the 1931 M series the 4 speed was changed and that one used until ca 1947.

Pretty much possible. I know scarcely anything about trucks, and I was only asked for a such a tranny. Obviously the person has some wrong knowledge himself.

1927 "LM" series trucks used a 3 speed transmission, which was mated up to the larger truck universal joint. The early 1928 "LO"
series truck came fitted with a standard 3 speed transmission, the same as the "LO" series, but there was a 4 speed
transmision offered as an optional extra.
Then when the "LP" series truck came out,it was fitted with a 4 speed transmission as standard fitment. The "LP" 4 speed is slightly different to the optional transmission offered to buyers of an "LO" series truck.
The "LP" 4 speed is also slightly different to the 1929 "LQ"
series trucks.I have found that there are at least 3 different length clutch input shafts, between these various gearboxes.

Well, thanks for the information. As a conclusion, I think, as far as there is four speeds in the transmission, it should be fine for this person.

The easyest way to ID a 28 truck transmission over a 29 or 30 is the 28 has a 4 bolt Power take off mount and the 29 & 30 has a six bolt, only the four speeds had this PTO mount?
