OK Guys, here is another request. You did so good last time I will try again. What is the original paint color of the metal lid on top of the windshield washer bottle? I am unable to find it anywhere. Lots of guesses but no positive ideas. I have checked with all the venders, but no luck.
Thanks, Roger

All of the ones I have seen have been painted the "argent" silver metallic color.

Thanks guys, I knew I could depend on yall. I also felt it should be the argent silver that the grill parts are. It is very faded and looks like it was gray or silver at some time. Argent Silver it will be....

Hi Roger,

For what it is worth, my 53s and 54s all had a medium gray/silver paint on the lids. Have an N.O.S. accessory kit still in the box which is the same. The previous replies called this "Argent" silver which is probably correct.

The bracket to hold the bottle appears to be cadmium or zinc plated. Not brightly polished like chrome.

Hope this is a little bit of help.

Thanks for the return information. I tried argent silver and it appeared to be too bright, and took it off. polished down to the raw metal and found it to look like a dull galvanized color. I think I will order some clear sealer I saw advertised in a vender catalog.
Thanks, Roger

This is a pretty old thread, but I noticed somebody checking it out today.

For what it's worth, I've painted the lids to the washer jars "dull aluminum." It looks about right to me. And, looks good.

"Dull Aluminum" is the (same) color I buy to paint Corvette Rally wheels. Like from the late 60's. It's sort of "medium" gray/silver. Not metallic at all.

Like I said, pretty old thread. But maybe some folks are (still) looking for this kind of info.....

Bill.
