Hi Guys,
I have a 1927 Chevy.I know for sure it has a 1928 motor in it.(ANY SWAPPERS OUT THERE 27 RUNNING MOTOR FOR A 28 RUNNING MOTOR)Now to the question.I have been collecting conflicting info regarding the 2 port head only being used on the 28 motor. One of the motors I have acquired was a 27 block, and the guy I bought it from said the 2 port head was original to the motor(always been in his families posession).Did the factory install a 2 port head on the late 27's,or possibly even install 28 motors in a few??? I feel this is a distinct possibility based on more than one incident and gathered info.Any light shed on this issue would be appreciated.Regards,Ray new member #44339

Okay, lets settle this quickly. Post here the date from the head and casting number. Next, the date and casting number from the block. Also the number found on the engine pad. Now, remove the exhaust manifold, clean the location on the head that the manifold covers. On the flange of the exhaust port, copy that number and post it here.

Finally, post all the data on the data plate either on the end of the seat, or from the plate on the drivers side floor.

If it is a closed car (Fisher Body) remove the front seat bottom and copy the number burned into the front board on the backside.

With this information we can make some conclusions.

Read all numbers very carefully and note the spacing of the numbers.
