G'day, I bought a '26 motor last week, I have turned it over by hand and by starter motor, I am now ready to run it. What I need to know is how to wire the distributor properly and do I need to run a condenser? Thank you Jimmy

Bump There was a wire soldered to the side of the distributor but this has dropped off, is this where the condenser wire goes? Also the wire that goes into the distributor from underneath is this positive or negative? As I can't tell from the wiring diagrams I have seen. One last thing, in my NASCO parts manual it has the points listed as the same for '27-'34, can I adapt these later points to the '26 distributor body? As I have near new points in my '29 6. Cheers Jimmy

Hi, Your distributor is in the shady era. Are the points in the distributor two piece and one side "C" shaped. If so, you can use the later point set. Where is your distributor located? Is it on the side of the motor and driven by the cam shaft? The wiring is as follows, the "hot" wire goes to the + terminal on the coil. A wire is attached to the - terminal and goes to the wire that enters the distributor from the bottom. The + wire of the condenser is attached to this - wire. The condenser must be grounded, and is usually attached to the side of the distributor or the coil. The date code from the engine or head would help.

G'day AntiqueMechanic, thanks for the reply. Dizzy part No. 893692. Engine cast No. 346709. I have a '27 & '28 dizzy but both are rusted due to being outside without caps. '26 points, if these are stuffed I will try to rebuild one of the other dizzies. I haven't had a chance to wire the motor yet, I will do so Wednesday, I will let you know how it goes. Cheers Jimmy

The picture shown is the early 1926 with the early points. The same instructions apply to that distributor. You should find a date code on both the head and block. Will look something like this: B 13 6. Locate those dates and post them here.

The block date is D307. The head is a STG (Sydney) replacement head. Cheers Jimmy
