Yep, after many long months of effort by a lot of people, we're going to take a huge step forward in the next two days. Sometime after midnight (Pacific Daylight Time) on July 1st, I will post the Classified Ads from the JULY issue of the G&D on the club's web site. (Literally within MINUTES of the date on the magazine!) To find them, go to the revised Member Services page (at http://vcca.org). I'm still revising this and will post it later tonight or tomorrow morning. From there, you LOG IN and you'll have full viewing of the ads which were just mailed this week to all members. The ID and Password to get into the Members-Only area were published in the MAY issue of the G&D on page 27.Hi Ho Silver, and Away!!!! http://vcca.org/memberservices.htm

I have just completed the upgrade to the club's website. This was the result of a member-submitted MOTION last year that was approved at the Board Meeting in March this year. Many thanks to ALL of the people who supported this. Thanks to the G&D Editor for delivery of the ads to the Webmaster in time to meet this historic date!!! You can see the July classified ads on-line now!!!!!!!Go to http://vcca.org and select Member Services from the new navigation bar along the left side. To our International Members: Can you imagine? Now you can see the July ads in the same month!!! Hopefully this will give you better bargaining power in finding those "rare" Chevy parts that other members offer up. Again -- thanks to EVERYONE who helped make this happen!!!

KUDOS Bill. I scanned through the parts and made an inquiry. Pretty simple.

Great job Bill!!! I went to the site and found the PDF format works best for me, but I wonder if I am doing something wrong or not doing something I should. I can only get one page at a time - that is, after looking at one page, I have to close it and then open the next one instead of clicking on the arrow at the bottom to advance a page. It does say "1 of 1" there so I am thinking this is how the system works but I guess I am looking for confirmation that this is so. Thanks for this new outstanding feature!! Beamer

Yes, I have organized it so that you can only see one page at a time... all together, the file size of the combined pages was 10 Meg... way too large for most people to download for viewing.

Thanks, I think that this will encourage members to use the classifieds to sell parts as well as get the same chance to buy.
I used both formats, PDF (Adobe) and Windows both work ok ,it seems that on my computer the Windows version downloads a bit quicker.
I think that using both formats will serve us fine and also after getting used to loading a page at a time will work ok, if you will minimize each page after it is read, you can go back to it without having to download it again.

Yup and Yup.
Nice work on getting the ads on-line, Bill.
Too bad there wasn't anything of interest in the ads.
Oh well, August 1st isn't really that far away.....
Bill.

To our International Members: Can you imagine? Now you can see the July ads in the same month!!! Hopefully this will give you better bargaining power in finding those "rare" Chevy parts that other members offer up. As I have said already to Bill and the BOD: THANKS! for this new, splendid service. In the long run this will help all members to a faster search and trade for both cars and parts, and even make more members to come forward to use the website, may be with a little help from their grand-children or a neighbour friend??? CCON has now sent out a message to all our VCCA members and our technical advisors to inform about the new service, and how to use it (and not use it). We have discussed before about a Library, specially a Technical one, and the difficulty to store it and make that work for members. Could someone do the same work each month putting on all future technical articles from G&D in the same manner as Bill is copying the ads now??? And put up an index for those articles too, so we can search for the information??? There are so many similar articles from the past which also could be scanned and put on the website for our own members, so the technical library index could be quite long after a year or two. But someone (else than BBB) would have to do the job. Do I need to send a motion on this, or has someone already done it?

Erling, Send in the motion. I am sure the Board would rather have more than one motion on a topic than no one send in a good idea or proposal.

I sent the motion yesterday, and hope it could improve a future library on the web, for all members to use.
I think putting technical information on the webpages, little by little, will be the only possible method to give all members, whenever they want/need it, f.o.c. and instant access to technical information/articles. I also hope the BOD will think about seaking help from Keith Hardy, eventually buy all his pages, if he accept it.
A normal library with books will be far too expensive and create a lot of physical work to run.
