Can anyone tell me the size and especially the thread count of the bolt that goes into the end of the shaft to hold the brake and clutch pedals on? I believe the bolt is 3/8" but I don't want to damage the threads by trying to force in the wrong bolt. I've tried a 16 and 24 count but they don't want to go in.

The pedals are held on by a clip and not a bolt.

There is a plate between the two pedals that adjust the floorboard clearance and that is held on by a corse thread 5/16 X 3/4.

Okay, I have the two pedals and the adjusting plate but don't have the clip. What does this clip look like? To me it still appears as though a washer and a bolt should go into the end of the shaft to hold it on, as the pedals are flush with the end of the shaft. Do you have any pictures of this clip and how does it fit on? THANKS!!

This is a 1928, however the 1927 is the same. Note that after the clutch pedal is placed on the shaft all items are then retained by the clip. There is a groove at the end of the shaft to accept the clip

Hi,
If the 3/8 does not fit(its been a long time since I disassembled my 26 so I don't exactly know where the bolt is right now LOL)it will either be 5/16" x18 ,7/16" x14 for coarse threads.The fine threads are 5/16" x 24 or 7/16" x 20
Regards,Ray

Thanks for all your help! After seeing the pictures and looking at mine, I got even more confused until I got in there with a bright light. Either GM had two different methods of doing this or mine may have been modified sometime in the past. Mine mounts with a 3/4" long 3/8" bolt with thread count 16. I suppose you can keep this in mind for the next time someone asks the same question. I just ran a tap into the hole to clean up the threads and a bolt with proper size washer went on without any trouble. Thanks again for all your help!!!!
