Hello!
I have checked the velocity of my Chevrolet -31, and the speedometer head shows less than the real velocity (6-9 Mph) What might be the problem? Could it be the gear to the speedometer cable in the gear box or the speedometer head?

Your speedometer needs to be calibrated and that is done on a speedometer machine with a powerful electronic magnet. A speedometer shop should be able to calibrate your speedometer for you. :)

I have the same problem here in Norway with my 31 P.U.. One day in the late autumn I might bring the meter to a repair shop in Oslo to fix it. But it will cost! May it is the climate making the meter slow down? That also may be the reason why we don't have meter maids here. Too bad, but have a look at the real thing: http://www.metermaids.com/

Thanks for a good answer Jyd. I will look for an speedometer shop and calibrated the speedometer head.

Yes Bengt, If you are visiting that part of Australia, you will feel their warm wish to help you. An absolutely recommended happening. Me and my boys have tried it. But we didn't ask about calibrating speedometers, only the parking meters. That worked well.
