On my '28 Capital, is there a prescribed method of balancing the wooden wheels? These are painted and in great shape. But with all the hardware on the wheels, the wheels really give me a fit when I get up to speed. Recognize that I'm maxed out at about 26MPH and I'm not doing any long distance driving. Additionally, as soon as I take a wheel off the truck, I'm all out of wack again. So a cheap and simple method would be best for me.

Thanks

Jack up the front end. Start with one wheel. Remove the key, loosen the nut slightly, rotate the wheel slightly and see where it settles out. The bottom will be the heavy spot on the wheel. Add some weight to the top of the wheel(get them used from the local tire shop)rotate, let settle out and repeat first step if necessary. Repeat the same procedure on the other front tire/wheel.

I would not worry about the rears. After all, this is a truck.

Hey... Be careful. This isn't just a truck. This is a top quality chebby truck. My wife loves it...she says it's cute. Even our one son who has a Phd in "Yuppy", loves it. When I drive it, everyone in town loves it. They simply smile and wave to me no matter how "stressed" they are.

I have a ways to go on this one. It didn't get abused, but simply used a lot. I got it about 4 weeks after 9/11 from Prince Edwards Island Canada. I am guessing that due to the winters there, it didn't get much use in the winter. Since they stored it indoors, it was saved from a fate worse than death. I have been interrupted in my rehabilitation of it for 2 years due to a very busy business schedule. Now I'm back in the saddle, and I'm getting it done.

Hope I can help someone with my limited knowledge.

Can't imagine your truck going through those tough winters and not have either a cracked block or damaged radiator.

Don't blame you for a second for standing up for your truck. Hang in there.

Hello,
Just came accross your name in the forum. How goes the restoration? I just finished mine. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. You can see photos of my truck at http://www.greenfieldwoodworks.com.
