can anyone help. i was at a recent VCCA region meet and got giged for my red heater hoses on my 1953 chevy 210 sedan. i remember some red hoses in my time. this car had red heater hose when i boubht it, so when i detailed under the hood i went back w/red???? red are black for my chevy????????? thanks

I don't ever remember seeing any red hose around my Chevrolet Dealership. Red hose was readily available from the "Oklahoma Tire and Supply Company" and "Western Auto".

Black is correct for all years of Chevrolets.

The red color the of the heater hose indicates it is the newer rubber hose Gates makes two types of hoses the black hose is the standard and the red hose it the better one. it may not be correct for the years and car but it is a better hose to use than the black hose. I will be using the black hose for my heater hose when I get ready on my 41

Prior to WWII they sold red fan belts, red heater hoses, and red radiator hoses.The red heater hose is still sold.None of the red was installed at the factory.
