Does anyone know if the differential in the 1928 1/2 ton pickup is the same as the 1928 passenger cars?

They sure are. The chassis are the same except for the location of gas tank/spare tire. 1/2 ton has gas tank under front seat. Passenger has tank under rear cross member which is the location for the spare on 1/2 ton.

The 1/2 tons could have either steel disc or wood spoked wheels. Same wheels used on passenger models. In fact the two '28 1/2 tons on recent VCCA Southern Spring Tour were examples. A Martin Parry pickup had steel disc and a Hercules Canopy Express wood spoked wheels.

I have a 1928 Canadian roadster pickup built in Oshawa Ont.
The transmision and rear end are the same as my 1928 Touring.
The gas tank is under the front seat but the spare tire is mounted on the LH side behind the drivers side door on the runing board. The wheels are 20" steel disk wheels. In Canada wooden spoke wheels were standard and steel wheels were options in 27 & 28.

I wonder if the chassis to 28 is identical for passenger and P.U.? My 31 Pick Up has the tank under front seat, spare wheel underneath cross member, but still has not the same shape of chassis at rear as a passenger car, and the rear fenders' profile are not identical either.

Not real sure what you are asking or stating. The 1931 passenger and 1/2 ton chassis have the same differences as the 1928. There are 4 gas tank brackets rived to the frame to support the gas tank under the front seat. The frame rails are the same as are the first three cross members. The rear cross member is shaped to support the gas tank on the passenger and the spare tire rim on the 1/2 ton. I have personally converted two 1931 passenger chassis to 1/2 ton by adding the tank brackets and replacing the rear cross member.

The '31-2 1/2 ton rear fenders, running boards, rb splash aprons and front fenders are not the same as the passenger. Those parts are not the same as 1929-30 passenger either despite what is commonly believed.
