How big of a job is it to install PS in a '57?

Thanks

Not a big job if you have all the required parts. Its more of a unbolt / bolt on opertation.
Parts required-power steering generator and bracket,p/s pump, pressure and return hoses, steering idler arm, correct P/S drag link, assist cylinder and left frame bracket, valve body ,pitman arm,two cylinder to valve body hoses, correct fan belt, and manifold heat shield (reproduced) and frame hose clamp.
The valve body and cylinder usually leak and need rebuilding.

After driving my '57 for a few years with manual steering and having a new with manual steering I was very happy that I added the P/S.Easier to steer at low speeds as well as less wheel fight at higher speeds.Steering like a modern car out on the road. The power brakes were also appreciated after I installed them. These were two items that I would never have considered when buying my new '57.Wouldn't be without them now.

Thanks Gene, I think I now have almost all of the required pieces and parts for ps and I think it is like you said well worth having.

Do you know what numbers should be on the power steering generator tag?

Thanks again, have a good day.
