What is the fiber board for that is above the headliner right above the wind shield is it for mounting the radio speaker? Or is there some other purpose. :confused:

A header speaker was available for the 1937 car. Perhaps what you have found would be connected with a speaker system.

Yes that is the speaker mounting board. If you feel around up there you should find a wire running from the left side of the speaker board above the drivers head through the drivers side pillar. It was put there to fish the speaker wire when the speaker was installed with the headliner in place.

The head liner is out and I am replacing it and I was just wondering what it was for the one that is thre is kinda crumbly and wondered if I needed to replace it. I do not plan on putting in a over head speaker but I suppose as long as I have the headliner out this would be the time to do it just incase.

I did. I even bought a fiber board and cut it the same way so that when the next person looks up there it will look somewhat like it did originally. I reused all the old mounting hardware also.
