Well its April 24th and still no March G&D or for that matter no April G&D .Sent email to Jean Fink last Thursday and have not receieved a reply yet! Don't understand whats going on.Think I will keep my forty dollars US. at renewal time.

Please don't direct your anger at the Finks. After the G&D leaves the printers, they have absolutly no control over the delivery.

Direct your attention to the USPS, however their answer is that the magazine was mailed as Periodicals. The system has been presented here on the chat site in detail earlier. Suggest you search for that discussion and also to enter the web site for the USPS and read the rules for Periodicals. Basically it is in the bottom of the bin.

I now have the january and march G & D but no febuary or april.

I still recommend anyone with interest to go to the USPS web site and have a good laugh.

As mentioned earlier, at the recent Board meeting we passed a Motion creating the option of getting First Class mailing of the G&D to those members who want to pay the increased cost. This is not cheap, and details are being worked out now. By the July issue, you should see this option becoming available.

Essentially, it offers members the option of paying the increased cost and receiving the G&D via First Class mailing. In the USA, this should give a delivery time of less than a week anywhere in the country. Internationally, it will be variable of course, but should dramatically decrease delivery time.

If your desire to recieve the G&D is simply for timeliness of the Classifieds, they will be posted on the Website, also beginning around July. This will mean that all members with internet access anywhere on the planet can see them immediately on the First of each month.

These two steps are the best we could devise to diminish this on-going problem.

P.S. Dan, From my experience with emails to the Finks about missed G&D's they do what you ask them to do very quickly w/o telling you that they did it, so don't think for a minute that they have blown you off. I bet you get a replacement G&D in the mail in the next couple of days.

I would think a lot of International members will start paying for first class delivery. And a lot more (than before) will use the Chat pages to read new, fresh ads too. These solutions are really wanted and a lot of thanks to the BOD, the Finks and Bill B. for making it happen. :love:

I take it that from now on there will be no need to make a long and not very exiting story of late or non-deliveries of G&Ds here on the Chat. Specially as the big blunder is created by the Postal Authorities in several countries after the Finks have done their job timely.

But.....What we gonna moan about other than the Great G&D?

Garage gremlins? Dogs that walk away with small buckets of miscellaneous parts? Dogs that eat tools?

Give me a few minutes and I'll think of some more things we can moan about.

My Medicare and supplement is way too high and my Social Security check is way too small , and it don't come till the month is almost over. My blood pressure is too high and my attention span is too short..... What works hurts and what don't hurt don't work.

Just in case anybody is wondering, at least one of the left coast guys got his G and D today. That would not be called 'early' for me. Mine usually arrives right around the First, so I wouldn't have been surprised if it had arrived last Thurs or Fri (May 3rd or May 4th).

Anyway, I'm thankful mine arrived today, May 7th.

I got mine also today in Ca. Nice job by the BOD. I think that we are making progress.

Would you believe my May G & D just arrived. It is May 22nd. When was it mailed?

You couldn't prove it by me, but as I underatnd it the G and D's are mailed around the last week of the month. Also, I don't really know how it "works" but as I understand it the type of mail service used makes it difficult to project when the magazine will actually arrive. As we've seen, it's different all over. I usually get mine here in Portland, OR around the First of the month, or very shortly thereafter. Yet Kepi who is in No. Cali and much closer to where they're mailed often doesn't get his til mid-month. Who knows how that happens????

There's NO question that the whole sitch is frustrating. Especially for those who get theirs 'later' rather than earlier.

A final thought, as I understand it, in a few months those who want to will be able to pay additional to get their G and D mailed "first class."
