I have a '34 Master 5-Window. I am rebuiding the wood structure completely and I want to use it as a guide to re-install sheetmetal from two different cars. My rocker panels are reasonably good but the nailing flanges at the ends have been bent, one was even brazed to the lock pillar cap. I assume thay are the best gauge for the bottom of the door opening as per Mr.Entlers instructions. If you can't trust the nailing flanges implicitely, how close can you get it by using the bead molding at the bottom? Is it supposed to touch the body at each end or is there a tolerable gap that gets filled with some sort of caulking?
Thanks, Landman

Landman, I just went out for a look at my '35 Standard Coupe. The rocker panel is behind the metal coverings on both the door posts. I assume the lock pillar is the post behind the door. There is no caulk. The rocker panel is a snug fit with a gap of only about 1/32 inch btween the pillar covers and the rocker. This part of my car has never been apart as far as I know. I bought it from the second owner 34 years ago and it was in original, unrestored condition at that time. I might be able to persuade my wife to take some photos and email them to you if you think it would help. Mike

Thanks Mike,
It's just as I expected. I have to find about 1/2" on both sides.
Much appreciated,Pat
