Hi All,
I have a 1946 Chevy pick up with a 235 and a 4 speed manual transmission. My wife will not drive a manual so I must convert it to an automatic.

My question is, what transmission would fit best in this truck, from what year make and model? If needed where would I get an adaptor plate to make the trans compatible with the 235? What about torque tube compatibility?
Thanks in advance.

I have not looked at doing this conversion but automatic trans wasnt common if at all available for your model. Some of the early sedan auto with enclosed driveline may fit in otherwise it will be a case of changing the rear axle to later model open driveline.
Teach your wife to drive a manual or know where your truck will stay where you park it.
