The transmission that came with my December 1939 built, 1940 KC 1/2 ton pickup has cast on its left side: 591195 GM2 41 H280 The serial number from what I understand is stamped on the top of the case and it reads: 6II836I with what looks like a 'Y' on its side to the left. (See Photo)
The project is new to me and I am trying to ensure that I know what I have. I am also trying to understand how to use the Master Parts Catalog and where to ask various questions on this website.
The 591195 is the case casting number and the case part number is 591194. i believe the H280 is the date code for Aug.28 of 1940. My parts book list the transmission being for 41-47 Commercial. (3-speed) .
