VCCA Home Forums Thread Like Summary - Speedometer acting up

Under acceleration my speedometer needle jams up until acceleration is paused. Now things are getting more serious as the needle stays jammed when acceleration has been paused until I bang the dash. What is causing this issue and how can it be corrected? It was working well before this. It may need a cleaning. Are there any instructions as to how to clean a speedometer? Cannot locate a business that deals with classic speedometer in Canada. Cross border shipping can be quite costly.

I would start by lubing the cable. If that doesn't fix it remove the speedometer and lube the wick (my term, don't know what it's officially called) with light machine oil. If that doesn't fix it send it off to be rebuilt.
